Special Sales that Fly Kids for Less
We love traveling with our kids, but airfare for the whole family can get expensive. That’s why we love “kids fly free” or child-fare promotions that can cut the cost dramatically. Almost all carriers fly infants up to 2 years-old for free or at only 10% of the normal fare when seated on your lap. And many of the major carriers still have a 10-25% discount for kids between 2-11 years old, although budget airlines typically do not have any discount for children after 2 years.
That’s why it caught our eye that the Turkish budget carrier Ajet is running a promo on child-fare tickets. And the discount scales with the size of your family, starting at a 20% discount for one child and going up to 30% off for 3+ kids. If you’ve been dreaming of a trip to Istanbul or İzmir, now is the perfect time to lock in your summer or fall plans. We had a great time exploring the Istanbul highlights on our stopover to Kazakhstan.
But Ajet is not the only airline that runs child-fare promos, and the discounts can get even deeper! Aegean’s Family Fare already provides generously discounted child-fares at 40% off for 2-11 year-olds. However, their ForFamilies sale goes even further, allowing kids to fly for free during a limited booking window. Typically the ForFamilies sale runs in early February and October, so watch the news this fall. The UK domestic airline Loganair reliably reruns their Kids Fly Free promo to celebrate new routes and school holidays, so keep up with their news to discover UK destinations at a discount. Other major European carriers like Scandinavian Airlines, TAP, LOT, and Turkish Airlines run their child-fare promos more sporadically. We loved experiencing Halloween in Edinburgh and child-friendly Oslo on our UK and Scandinavia trip using an open-jaw route. Even smaller European carriers offer occasional promos, like Transavia, SkyUp, Jet2, and currently Air Montenegro. We’ve traveled the Balkans extensively with our kids, like Serbia for Orthodox Christmas, and will share more tips for the region soon.
But it’s not just European carriers that provide such discounts. With Frontier Airlines, Kids Fly Free for Discount Den members across their USA domestic network. The Dominican Republic’s Arajet’s Vamo’ en Familia promo flies kids for free throughout their growing network across the Americas and Caribbean. The Caribbean carrier BermudaAir also runs occasional promotions. We had a great time in the Bahamas, and plan to explore more of the Caribbean in the coming years.
There are several airlines that run child-fare promos throughout the Middle East. Major Middle East carriers like Qatar, Etihad, and Emirates run occasional kids fly free sales throughout their global networks, and the Kuwaiti Jazeera Airways has offered 90% off child-fare discounts throughout the region. We were fortunate to be able to visit the Arabian peninsula this past year, visiting Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Oman.
The same is true for carriers in Asia, Australia, and Oceania. Singapore Airlines occasionally runs Kids Fly Free promos across their global network. In Australia too, you’ll find the domestic carrier Nexus Airlines runs kids fly free promos and the budget carrier Jetstar’s holiday packages combine kids fly & stay for free. But make sure not to miss the ongoing Air Tahiti Nui Kids Fly (Almost) Free promotion linking Tahiti and the USA for all 2026 flights! We will be traveling with our kids to Asia over Easter to discover China, and we look forward to more adventures in the region.
Africa also has child-fare promos. With Royal Air Maroc’s Family Pack, you can save up to 40% on child-fares across their global network. Other major carriers like South African Airways, Kenya Airways, and Ethiopian Airlines have occasionally run promos across their networks. The South African domestic budget carrier LIFT Airline is running a promo with 30% off child-fares. We visited Africa with our kids for the first time last year when visiting the island nation Cabo Verde, and we plan to explore more soon.
